Crimes & Misdemeanors is a difficult film for me to watch because Joanna's obvious disdain for her husband is matched by Cliff's idiotic senseless provocations against Lester after he's hired to make his biopic. It's all just rather irritating.
The film seems like a rehearsal for Match Point.
Parenthetically, I don't think the Dylan-Woody accusation belongs in #metoo, despite Dylan & Ronan's efforts to put in that context. Without trying to be flippant, it's "me" without "too". Because most of the latter is multiple accusers, or offenders who have confessed. Allen has always denied them, & while there are reasons to believe Dylan, there are also arguments that favor Allen. In short, aliging the controversy with #metoo suggests decisiveness that doesn't exist.
