Do friends discuss race? I'm just surprised, because even close friends seldom discuss religion (when they're of different faiths), so why is it of particular importance that they discuss race?

I recall a friend, who was in the PTA with me during our children's first years of school, expressing frustration with what he believed was the inability of the public system to reach Black boys, & so had decided to pull his son out & put him in private school. This wasn't discussion, of course, but merely information. I certainly had no reason to agree or disagree.
