Great piece.

Like many who are pro-choice I agree Roe was decided on some loose gravel. Pity no laws were passed (save in some blue states) granting women positive access to abortion, but it's only natural for pols to let sleeping dogs lie. Why risk alienating substantial parts of their constituency without good cause?

Now, of course, the cause is here.

Interesting conversation in the comments on distinction between legal person & natural person. Furthermore, I believe, constitutionally, neither a fetus or embryo can be regarded as citizens of the US because the 14th amendment defines a citizen as "all person born or naturalized...." Key word, born. Even if one believes a fetus is a fully-realized human being, it is not, per that definition a citizen.

I've written my own piece on the forthcoming Alito decision. Nothing as subtle as yours. I just point out what is obvious: the ball's in Joe B's court now & he has the chance to be remembered as someone who is more than Not Trump.

Some commentators suggest red states will try to prevent crossing state lines to seek abortion services. Much as they might want to, all of the previous laws cited are federal. I'm not certain such laws can be passed at the state level.
