How would an Israeli government, any government, be induced to pursue reforms which would make Jews yet again a minority in someone else's country? Worldwide there are about twice as many Palestinians as there are Jews in Israel. Assuming this unitary state allows return for both Palestinian & Jew, one can see why Palestinians would take advantage of such a law, but for Jews...? There would likely be a net drain. After all, what's the point?

Furthermore, these comparisons with South Africa fail to take into account that SA has been experiencing murder rates comparable to Mexico or Brazil (higher than the US even!). What the cause of that might be I have no idea. But would you feel safe there? Terrorism notwithstanding Israel enjoys very low crime rates. Homicides are rare.

Bottom line: Israeli Jews aren't looking to be "generally well treated". They seek to control their own destiny (& yes, Palestinians should also have that right, but not as a majority people within Israel).
