I don't know if anyone else has proposed this, but why not power through Xmas & set aside another special day, New Year's Day, or the Xmas Eve, to spend with the family doing all of those special things. It isn't clear if L-W Linda only sees the BiL on Xmas or at other times, so disinviting them for Xmas might not be the panacea it seems, & only creates hard feelings in the process.
