I read your story a while back, Wayne. I appreciate your perspective—there's no replacement for on-the-scene experience. It is hard to believe that Israel didn't know Liberty was an American ship, still stranger things have happened in time of war.
What troubles me is, first, the scuttlebutt you mention about jets sporting nukes... Is that something that happened then? Were pilots authorized to deploy nuclear weapons? How would that even work?
And the alleged massacre of 2000 Egyptians. Again, how would that work? It's very difficult to kill that many people, especially in one day, as the Germans discovered after Barbarossa. If it happened it would be the worst such massacre since Katyn in WWII. Have the Egyptians reported it? The skeletons you reference can be explained by captured Egyptians sent walking back to their lines across the Sinai. That doesn't put IDF in a good light, but not a massacre, either.
Incidentally, you can link to another story by highlighting a key work or sentence & pasting the link into it. Makes is easier to access.
Thanks for the info.
