I really like this. I was LA born & lived there for the first 35 years of my life. I never wanted to move away (to NYC, it turned out) but circumstances ... you know.

A very lucid description of LA County's political structure. Very few people are comfortable in their knowledge of it. I recall working in an office in Woodland Hills & hearing a co-worker explain that our office was, "near LA, but not in it."
