I started the series, not having, as yet, read any of the source novels. I don't know if others find this so, but I've always found the cringing awkwardness of the conversations in stories like this much harder to watch than to read. Somehow Matt Damon's Ripley carries the material w/o seeming as painfully awkward. For that reason I suspect Scott's rendition is closer to Highsmith's intent. Anyway, I stopped after episode two, but now I might have to pick it up again, or perhaps better still, engage the source material.
