I think David's iMessage assertion is quite lame. The comment of a youngster who, as you suggest, equates knowing the latest tech with being a wise voter. But how is he taking credit, as a white person, for something someone else did? Isn't he speaking, or trying to speak, for young people in general? You're interpreting his message as somehow being "white to white".

Better he shut up, leaving the media to cover no one speaking out against gun violence?
