I think there are two misconceptions at work in your comments here. You cite the Hebron massacre, I suppose, as an example of intransigent Arab/Muslim anti-Semitism. Indeed there were numerous riots/attacks on Jewish settlers from the post-Balfour Declaration Nebi-Musa Riots to the Arab Uprising of 1936. But all took place after Zionist settlers arrived en masse to alter the demographic balance in Palestine. We can argue whether or not this was sufficient provocation--as a Zionist myself, I accept the necessity of a Jewish state--but more than blind anti-Semitism provoked them.

Simply because one is an Arab it doesn't follow that being absorbed into another Arab state is possible or desirable. Whether or no "Palestinian" was an identity prior to the 20th century, it certainly has become one just as "Israeli" has.
