I'm a trained chef myself, so I understand how tense a working kitchen can be. Customers expect food, not excuses. That said, I agree with those who claim Ramsay plays a role on Hell's Kitchen (I mean, do the new chefs always screw up their first dinner services; what would happen if they did the second or third service perfectly? There'd be no show), but I get what you're saying about the persona he portrays. There are people—chefs, teachers, coaches—like that. I think the idea, as shown in the movie Whiplash, is to encourage a few truly excellent students, while at the same time leaving a lot of human wreckage along the way. It's not the way I'd go, certainly.
