I'm not denying the existence of white privilege, never have. But after reading McCain's Daily Mail article I don't see any connection between it & white privilge. McCain's thesis is that today's comics are too beholden to (mostly) Democratic politics & leaders to be funny, in contrast to their predecessors. It's a point worth discussing. I don't know 'cause I don't watch The Daily Show (or SNL) anymore (though Rob Schneider's point re Kate McKinnon's Hillary skit post-election is well taken). If you want to suggest that McCain's prominence is prima facie evidence of white privilege, well maybe so. But I don't see how this particular op/ed piece really carries the point.
