Interesting analogy, but we're to ponder giving back what exactly? Palestine per se has never been free. It was always a part of another empire until the close of the Mandate. Israel is the first autonomous political entity in the land in more than two millennia. Even if Israel were to agree to Palestinian return—which I think (& even Chomsky agrees) would be a mistake, because Israel w/o a Jewish majority makes no sense—they'd still be living under an Israeli government.
