It sure isn't—& I write that without yet having seen Nightmare Alley, Drive My Car, Licorice Pizza or Belfast.

Perhaps CODA is some kind of dark horse win like Crash, or Chariots of Fire?

Especially the latter, because both are formulaic, feel-good examples of cinema. Don't get me wrong, Tony Kotsur absolutely deserved his win—now they can stick him back on the shelf like Harold Russell.

But, goodness sakes! The film's thesis—deaf people work & have families, & deaf guys really like to schtup their wives—did we not already suspect that to be the case?

Mixed feelings about Kristen Stewart nominated as Diana because Naomi played a similar role & received zero recognition.

But you knew Kristen had zero chance of winning because Academy members correctly feared she would attend wearing shorts & what would that look like on stage with no podium?!*

*actually it would look freakin' awesome, but Academy takes itself too seriously sometimes.
