Lynch's Dune is why I wonder whether the corral scene in Mulholland Drive doesn't have several possible deeper interpretations. I.e. The Cowboy tells Adam if he does well by saying "this is the girl" he'll see the Cowboy once; if he does bad he'll see him twice. Now, as far as we know Adam does well, casts the girl & has his wealth & career restored. He sees the Cowboy once, at his party. But we, the audience, see the Cowboy twice. Is this a subtle message that in caving in to the powers that be, compromising his own vision, Adam really did not do good? Because, as far as I know, Dune was the one time Lynch said this is the girl. He didn't have Final Cut, didn't have the kind of control over the script, the budget, etc. he usually has & would up with a hot mess. His only critical & commercial flop.

Or maybe I need to get outdoors more often....
