Many folks don't understand the origin of Thanksgiving Day. It stems from a proclamation by President Lincoln proposing setting aside the third Thursday of November, etc... True, pilgrims used to hold thanksgiving celebrations for various events, & that is how primary schools came to equate them with Thanksgiving Day. But they are not the same.
