My reaction exactly. The FBI during Hoover's reign was not a reliable source of hard data, & many of their investigations were agenda-driven, especially toward potential subversion & subversive activity.

It really doesn't help that the author of this article is a bit careless, captioning one photo of Mountbatten with JFK as "1974" eleven years after the latter's assassination.
