Nice. Especially the form of your explanation — not wanting to be first seen, etc…

People in authority in virtually any sector seem to expect to be obeyed without question or explanation. Suppose cops, for example, actually took a moment to explain why they tell people to do certain things … would all hell really break lose? The counter-argument, of course, is that there’s no time to explain when someone’s shooting at your or if a patient is on the verge of coding, but people aren’t complete fools. Our voices convey urgency when a true emergent situation arises.

For the rest of the time, a word or two of explanation can go a long way in avoiding misunderstanding & resentment.
