He was arrested by British authorities & kept incommunicado until one day a British official explained: "Wherever will we put one million Jews, old sport?"

See, it's wrong to take someone's land, yes. But it's even more wrong to be murdered. But that's what happened. Jews were murdered because there was no place for them to go.

Sure, the Allies weren't going to trade material to the Nazis, but just opening negotiations, delaying the transports (which Himmler had promised to do) while the Red Army descended on Hungary, might have saved countless lives. But there was nowhere for them to go.
