Problem: not every place is French Algeria; not every uprising is an effectual blow to colonialism. E.g. the Sioux were getting screwed in the Black Hills (which they colonized from the Crow), & many whites knew it. They defeat Custer in a military operation, then their women mutilate the bodies of the 7th Cavalry dead. Did they have no notion of the outrage this behavior causes among Europeans? You can say, what matter, they're already dead? Yet there it is.
So how did defeating Custer benefit the Sioux & Cheyenne? Will the whites cease expanding west, respect their lands & way of life as a result? Or does the opposite happen?
John Brown led the raid on Harper's Ferry, true, but he was also happy to murder in cold blood. For him violence wasn't a therapeutic means of decolonizing himself, but rather an end in of itself.
Little Crow's rebellion of 1862 was absolutely justified. The trader who cheated them & claimed they might eat grass & their own dung was, we're told, found decapitated with grass stuffed in his mouth. Had things ended there people might have see the justice. But Dakota warriors also slaughtered women & children & raped. Obviously, clearly, manifestly these actions played into the hands of the corrupt BIA & benefitted the Dakota not at all.
I don't know enough about the Houthis to comment, but we have Hamas, emerging to kill, rape & abduct. Then they scurry back into their tunnels allowing their women & children & elders to face the retribution they know is surely coming. They don't do it because of any rational assumption that Israel will decolonize back to the metropolitan. There is no metropolitan, remember? They do it because people like you cheer them on, praise them as freedom fighters. And Bibi, too. If Hamas didn't exist he'd have to invent it (oh, wait, he did invent it!). Whom do you & Hamas think is going to drag all but a fraction of the Jews out of Israel & put them in Maoist reeducation camps? How does that happen without nuclear weapons igniting?
Point is leaders of anti-colonialist militants must first ask: What will be the results of this action & how can it be focused to achieve the best outcome for the people?
Too many don't seem to be doing that.
