Publicly funded R&D created the basis for the vaccine, but—& I'm honestly asking here—how can it be manufactured in sufficient quantities without the participation of Big Pharma? Universities & medical centers don't have manufacturing capability. So the private sector has to step in, just as it did during WWII, & do the heavy lifting of actually producing the vaccine. Is it unreasonable that they would seek to license & profit from its distribution?
