Seems like a Gumby-stretch of a comparison. I'm reminded of the scene in that film where Sayyed Mahmoody proclaims that post-revolutionary Iran is a place with "real values" (i.e. compared to the US). What does he mean? There are devout Muslims in the US. Is that contrary beliefs are not tolerated in Iran?

Is the west "soulless" because we don't imprison or dismember atheists?

I can live with that.

And The Bomb ... it would have been suicidally reckless not to develop it with the Germans possibly building one of their own. Once the science & engineering were done there was no way to put the genie back. So yeah, US builds a bomb; USSR builds one; India builds a bomb; Pakistan builds one; Israel ... Iran. The US is in no position to impose anything on Iran, but if they can be encouraged not to go nuclear (i.e. before Trump undid the Iran deal) what's wrong with that?
