Simon, you're the man! I'm a fan of David Lynch's work overall, but I didn't care for Wild At Heart or Lost Highway—both had moments, but overall ... meh—almost by accident I caught Mulholland Drive in a theater. I wasn't expecting much. But by the time the credits rolled, I was flabbergasted. I knew something powerful & fascinating had gone down, if not exactly what. I went back four more times to view it (haven't done that since the 70s when midnight shows were the only way to see Dawn of the Dead).

And Naomi ... what a revelation!

Since then I come to view MD as a companion piece to Sunset Boulevard. The latter is the story of one who found fame, then lost it, while the former is for those who never quite got there.

And Philip, very glad you came around.

Oh, & incidentally, I always thought Office Space was brilliant!
