Somehow this 3 year-old+ essay appeared in my feed. You raise compelling points here. Personally I know little about Down's people, despite a background in healthcare. I have heard that much of what is regarded as adorable & inspiring about Down's children fades as they grow into adulthood. But I think the main point is that some parents will always choose, if they're permitted, to bear children into the world, regardless of a condition such as Down's.
Now cystic fibrosis is another issue altogether. It's hard to imagine an argument in favor of allowing a CF pregnancy to continue. I can think of few things more tragic than children facing premature extinction in their late teens & early twenties. Might as well send them off to war.
Incidentally, you keep your pre-avian identity a closely-guarded secret. Yet here all is revealed. Hmmm.
