Utterly tragic from any perspective. From what I understand, based on the science of today, Kuykendall wouldn't have been charged at all. Did he really confess to his wife? And, even if he did, that doesn't prove anything conclusively. He might have done so to ease her mind. Fire is utterly terrifying to confront. We all like to believe that were our home on fire & our children inside we'd either come out with them, or not at all. Perhaps that was the main reason behind Kuykendall's conviction—the jury figured, well he blew it anyway. So to hell with him!
