Very cool piece. I think the Beatles excelled in being a true band. Every member sang lead on some songs, & every member contributed compositions. The Stones, great as they are, are more standard, with Jagger/Richards writing the songs & Mick as frontman. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I think The Beatles transcended that arrangement.
Also, in breaking up we never saw them age into scenescence as a band or release increasingly mediocre albums.
That said, it's an intriguing question how they would have faired had Brian Epstein lived. Surely they would have gone a few more years, released a few more albums.
