Very interesting. I found an NY Times article covering the reunion of a Buchenwald survivor with a black member of the 761 Tank Battalion, which played a key role in liberating the camp.
I've studied the Holocaust & post-war era; interviewed survivors, but these reunions were an aspect of the history which I was unaware.

Incidentally, the denial of GI Bill benefits to the more than one million black veterans was & is a national shame. Before he went to prison for corruption J. Lee Rankin forced FDR to compromise & allow the states to administer benefits. Black vets were screwed & the ability to create generational wealth sorely attenuated. Effects felt today.
