Very interesting point & perspective. I’ve always thought women with gray hair, like Grant—and especially long gray tresses, Topanga Canyon Style—looked good, very down to earth.

“Men look distinguished, while women just look old,” my wife, also bedeviled with early menopause, said. “Try it,” I replied.

When she did start coloring her hair, she said, “Look, I know you don’t approve….”

And then I realized my mistake. If it made her feel better to color out the gray, why not? She knows how I feel, there’s no need to harp on it. And, actually, she looks great either way.
