What are you saying here? That giving money to Hamas compelled its brutality towards its own Palestinian constituents? Because it seems to me that Hamas might have used any funds it received to improve the lives of people in Gaza. Obviously any support Israel tendered toward Hamas has backfired, badly. But they did not force Hamas to follow the policies & tactics that have marked its reign in Gaza. Hamas, in fact, is in the driver's seat right now, using the deaths in Gaza in a cynical PR coup. Of course this doesn't let Israel off the hook. They're no more compelled to continue bombing than Hamas was to use their funding to further the conflict. But further it they did. Surely that is not what you meant by Arab generosity of spirit.
