Why? It's history.

Not only the Holocaust, but the post-war Allied reaction—putting survivors in DP camps indefinitely, proposing they return to their former homes where many were driven off or murdered by erstwhile neighbors who didn't want to return the lands they had taken, or live as another minority in majority Arab Palestine—demonstrated the unquestionable need for a Jewish state.

If Jewish history doesn't matter, then why does that of the Arab-Palestinians?

Israel was unquestionably a settler-colonial enterprise. As Jabotinsky wrote, if the Jews couldn't form a homeland in Palestine, then they never would, anywhere.

It's tragic that Israel failed to take the opportunity to form a secure & prosperous Palestinian state in the West Bank & Gaza after '67. Compensation for lands taken & a Marshal-type plan to jumpstart the economy. Would Palestinians be happy with that? Probably not, but they might compromise.

Questioning the legitimacy of Israel as a nation is utterly pointless. They're there & they aren't going anywhere.

Unfortunately successive Likud governments pursue exactly the same policies as Hamas: endless conflict.

So, pro-Palestine? What does that mean exactly? Demand a cease-fire? Okay. But can anyone doubt that Hamas will strike again, & again? 7 Oct wasn't resistance; it was nihilism.
