While I would explained the Nazi view of race & racial hygiene in response, I realized as soon as I read her comments that it was a particularly American view of race.

Jews have struggled long to be viewed as white, mainstream, invisible, or whatever you want to call it. Her analyses were actually a compliment to that effort.
